Payoff Ledger

About this site

Payoff Ledger is a small, single-purpose tool built to answer one question clearly: how much time and money can an extra mortgage payment actually save you?

Most mortgage calculators either bury this behind a signup wall or give you a single number with no context. This one runs entirely in your browser — no account, no email, no data sent anywhere — and shows the standard payoff timeline side by side with an accelerated one, so the difference is visible at a glance rather than buried in a spreadsheet.

Why it exists

It's built and maintained independently, with the goal of keeping one thing simple and genuinely useful rather than adding features that dilute it. The math follows standard amortization formulas used across the mortgage industry.

A note on accuracy

This tool provides estimates based on the numbers you enter. It assumes a fixed interest rate and a consistent extra payment applied every month. Actual amortization schedules can vary slightly by lender due to rounding, escrow handling, and payment timing. For decisions with real financial stakes, we'd recommend confirming figures with your lender or a financial advisor.
